On Thanksgiving, give thanks for freedom of speech, or what's left of it,

'There is a growing belief that speech can be considered violence, that racist speech is by definition violence, and that conservative thought is inherently racist. I don’t need a whiteboard or lizard people to connect the dots.'

In a way, I wish the crusade against conservatives was limited just to the cases noted so far. But the sad reality is that the Left is using every underhanded tactic it can muster to shut down the free speech rights of conservative voices large and small. And liberals won't stop until the only sound they hear is their own echo.

Among the other charming traits of the Left, one that I never get tired of writing about is their fondness for words intended to mask some of the harsh realities of life.

What makes Facebook's decision doubly incomprehensible is that liberals no longer run interference for Farrakhan, mainly because to defend him would appear hypocritical against the background of their claims that Donald Trump (who's own daughter is a practicing Orthodox Jew) is an anti-Semite.

As a result of the ongoing censorship, many have turned to alternative outlets that support free speech online. Even so, Facebook remains the proverbial 800-pound gorilla in the room, and with enough power to influence elections and control speech on a global level.

In March 2018, Twitter founder and CEO Jack Dorsey sought advice on how Twitter could become the ‘most trusted service in the world.’ I could recommend about a thousand ways he could achieve that objective, but why should he listen to me? My account's not verified.

Twitter has distanced itself from the Southern Poverty Law Center (SPLC) following reports suggesting that the group scams liberal donors out of money.

Even if the school has the power to discipline him for the speech, the criminal justice system doesn't have the power to jail him for it, because prosecutors can't punish speech that is vulgar or causes unrest.

No reader of the Post is going to believe that Farrakhan is conservative, nor is it likely the writers of this piece, Elizabeth Dwoskin and Craig Timberg, attempted to put one over on readers. But — big but — the error got by at least one editor.

Broad definitions of hate speech aren't based on the First Amendment. In the past, the Supreme Court has ruled that there is no "hate speech" exception to the First Amendment, which protects speech that offends minority groups.
